Hawaiian Quilting

Quilts Hawaii - Elizabeth Root, Hawaiian Quilt designer, has the most charming, delightful website you will ever visit.  At the root (pun intended) is Hawaiian Quilting, but the heart is pure Aloha.  So much more than quilting, you will love this site!  Patterns, books, cross-stitch, gallery, history, how-to's, recipes, e-cards, links and so much more.

Loretta Pasco's Quilt Hawaiian - Hawaiian quilt patterns, kits and designs, Hawaiian quilts, and information on Hawaiian quilting.  Patterns from a variety of Hawaii's quilt designers.

Poakalani - "To perpetuate the cultural history and traditions of Hawaii through Hawaiian quilts by teaching this art to a new generation of quilters.  Poakalani combines traditional Hawaiian design principles with modern dreams and visions to create new legacies and heirlooms."  A rich website with much to offer.

Keri Designs - Designer, Keri Duke, designs Contemporary Hawaiian Quilts, cross stitch and needlepoint pillow patterns and kits.

Kwilts 'n Koa - One of the very rare places you can go to order a custom hand-made Hawaiian Quilt!  (not imported, but made in Hawaii using high quality cotton fabrics).  Also available, Hawaiian Quilt patterns, books, and gift items.

Hawaiian Quilting by Nalani Goard - Nalani, the granddaughter of the late master Hawaiian Quilter, Aunty Debbie Kakalia, carries on in the tradition of her wonderful grandmother.

General Appliqué

The Appliqué Society - "To promote, to teach, to encourage the love of all types of appliqué quilting."  If you love appliqué consider joining this group and one of its many Local Chapters.  The Appliqué Society (TAS), with members from all over the world, hosts a show every 2 years featuring beautiful appliqué quilts.  The event features classes by world famous teachers, lectures, quilt appraisals, vendors and special exhibits.

APWQ - The Association of Pacific West Quilters' purpose is to promote the art of quiltmaking and to encourage and reward quiltmakers west of the Rockies (US & Canada).  APWQ presents a biennial juried and judged Quiltfest.  (fka APNQ, Association of Pacific Northwest Quilters)

Hawaii Quilt Guild - visit their website to see what is going on with this talented group of quilters on Oahu.  Plan your time on Hawaii to attend one of their monthly meetings.

Giving Opportunities

Quilts From the Heart - Quilts From The Heart is a nonprofit public benefit organization that brings caring and comfort to children, teens, and adults in our community who are most in need, by providing handmade patchwork quilts to warm the body and soothe the heart and soul. Our members share their love of fabric, quilting and friendship in a "no pressure" atmosphere of fun and camaraderie.

Wrap Them In Love - A non-profit, tax exempt organization created to help needy children of the world.  Their mission is to collect donated quilts and distribute them to children around the world, so they can be wrapped in the love of a quilt.
